Thondekayi Palya




INGREDIENTS:
2 cups gerkins / thondekayi cut into 2 pieces  and boiled
1/4 cup  kabuli chana or green peas boiled
3 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
2 tsp urad dal (skinless black gram)
Curry leaves
Salt to taste

FOR THE MASALA:
Grind coarsely 
1/4 cup fresh grated coconut
1 1/2 tsp red chilli pdr
2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp mustard

PROCEDURE:

  • In a pan heat oil and put mustard
  • When it starts crackling add curry leaves and urad dal and fry for 3 mins
  • Put the masala and fry for 2 mins
  • add the boiled gerkins and chana,salt to taste and cook for 5 mins
  • serve hot with rice
