Tomato Mint Rice

This is a very simple and easy recipe of rice with minimum ingredients. The recipe credit goes to my friend Shwetha Amit Pai  Who has a wonderful blog named Shwet'ssizzlingwok...I loved this rice very much so thought of sharing with you ....
 tsp biryani or garam masala

INGREDIENTS:
1 Cup basmati rice washed and soaked in water for 15-20 mins
5 tsp oil or ghee
1 sliced onion
2 finely chopped tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
3 slit green chillies
15-20 mint leaves
1 tsp biryani/ garam masala
Whole garam masala like 1 bay leaf,2 cloves,cinnamon piece,1 star anise, 4 pepper corns
Salt to taste
PROCEDURE:
  • In a cooker  put oil  ,add whole garam masala and fry for a minute
  • Put the onion slices and saute till translucent
  • Add slit green chillies and ginger garlic paste and fry for 3 minutes
  • Add chopped tomato and fry till it becomes mushy
  • Put biryani masala ,mint leaves salt to taste and rice (drain the water)
  • Fry the rice for 5 mins and add 1 1/2  cups water and close the lid
  • After 2 whistles switch off the gas
  • Serve hot with any raita or gravy
