Tomato Mint Rice
tsp biryani or garam masala
INGREDIENTS:
1 Cup basmati rice washed and soaked in water for 15-20 mins
5 tsp oil or ghee
1 sliced onion
2 finely chopped tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
3 slit green chillies
15-20 mint leaves
1 tsp biryani/ garam masala
Whole garam masala like 1 bay leaf,2 cloves,cinnamon piece,1 star anise, 4 pepper corns
Salt to taste
PROCEDURE:
- In a cooker put oil ,add whole garam masala and fry for a minute
- Put the onion slices and saute till translucent
- Add slit green chillies and ginger garlic paste and fry for 3 minutes
- Add chopped tomato and fry till it becomes mushy
- Put biryani masala ,mint leaves salt to taste and rice (drain the water)
- Fry the rice for 5 mins and add 1 1/2 cups water and close the lid
- After 2 whistles switch off the gas
- Serve hot with any raita or gravy
