Vastad Rotti with Dalithoy


This is a very popular Konkani dish ,mostly prepared for breakfast .The dough is similar to Mangalore famous banana buns.the buna are deep fried and this rotti is tava fried!!This isa very soft and thick roti prepared with maida,banana and curd!!

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups Maida/ all purpose flour 
2 over riped bananas
1/2 cup curd
3 tblsp sugar
1/2 tsp cooking soda
1/2 tspcrushed jeera
1/2 tsp crushed pepper
1/2 tsp salt
Oil for cooking

PROCEDURE:
  • In a bowl mash the bananas and add curd,salt,sugar cooking soda,jeera,pepper and mix well 
  • Keep closed until the sugar dissolves
  • Now add the flour as required  and make a soft dough
  • Keep the dough covered for 6-8 hours
  • Devide the dough into portions and make balls
  • Roll each ball into a thick poori (like naan )
  • Cook it on hot tava using 2-3 tsp oil
  • Serve hot with dalithoy or butter
INGREDIENTS FOR DALITHOY:

1 Cup toor dal
2 slit green chillies
Salt to taste

For tempering:
3 tsp oil or ghee
1 tsp mustard
1 sprig of curry leaf
2 broken red chillies
1/2 tsp hing pdr

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash the dal and put in cooker with green chillies and 2 cups of water for 4-5 whistles
  • Transfer cooked dal in a vessel ,add water to adjust the consistency
  • Add salt and boil it
  • Temper with the ingredients
