Dal palk khichdi with Kadhi


INGREDIENTS FOR KADHI :
1 cup curd
2 cups water
1 1/2 tblsp besan/ gram flour
1/4 tsp turmeric pdr
Salt to taste

FOR TEMPERING:
2 tsp oil or ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera
1/4 tsp hing/ asafoetida pdr
1/4 tsp turmeric pdr
1 chopped green chilli
1/4 tsp red chilli pdr
2 dry red chillies
PROCEDURE:

  • Mix the above mentioned ingredients in a bowl,whisk  till it becomes smooth mixture without any lumps
  • In a pan haet oil put all the ingredients one by one ,pour the curd,besan mixture
  • Let it boil for 5 mins,check the salt and garnish with chopped coriander leaves

INGREDIENTS FOR PALAK KHICHDI:
1 cup rice
1/4 cup moong dal
1/2 cup palk puree(blanch palak and 2 green chillies and make puree)
1/4 cup green  peas
4 tsp oil
1 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds
1 chopped onion
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste

FOR TEMPERING:
2 tsp ghee
2 broken red chillies
1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds

PROCEDURE:
  • Wash dal and rice twice and soak in water for 10 mins
  • In cookerput oil ,add jeera,onion chopped and fry for 2 mins
  • Add turmeric pdr and palak puree and fry for 5 mins
  • Put the dal,rice mixture,green peas,salt to taste and mix well
  • Add 3 cups water and cook for 2-3 whistles
  • Open the cooker lid and add the tempering to the khichdi 
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with pickle and kadhi !!
