Jeere Meere Varan


INGREDIENTS:
1 cup toor dal
1/4 cup moong dal
1/2 tsp turmeric pdr
1/2 tsp hing/ asafoetida pdr
2-3 Kokum petals 
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves

TO BE GROUND:
4 fresh coconut scrapings
3-4 green chillies
1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
4-5 pepper corns(meere)
4-5 garlic cloves
little daniya patta/ coriander leaves
Grind the above ingredients into a fine paste and keep aside

FOR THE TEMPERING:
3 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
curry leaves
1 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds
little haldi/ turmeric pdr

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash the dals and soak in 2 cups water for 15 mins, pressure cook with hing,haldi  for 3-4 whistles
  • Heat oil in a pan ,add the tempering ingredients,once it is fried add the masala and fry till the raw smell goes
  • Add cooked dal,water ,salt ,sugar and water to adjust the consistency
  • Add the kokum petals and make it boil for 5 mins
  • Garnish with daniya patta and serve hot with rice!!!
