Mussel Sukkha


INGREDIENTS:
250 gms mussels/ neeli
6 tsp oil
2 finely chopped onions
2 sprigs of curry leaves
Chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste

FOR THE MASALA PASTE:
3/4 cup grated coconut
5 roasted red chillies
little tamarind
4 garlic cloves
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
In 1 tsp oil roast 2 tsp coriander seeds ,1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 4-5 methi seeds, 1/2 tsp turmeric pdr

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash and clean the mussels,separate the mussels from the shells
  • Grind 1/4 cup coconut with roasted red chillies,roasted spices and tamarind into a fine paste
  • Now add the remaining coconut,garlic cloves and 1/2 tsp jeera and and grind for only 2 -3 mins (coarse paste)
  • In a pan heat oil, add curry leaves,chopped onions and fry till it becomes light brown
  • Add the masala and fry for 5 mins
  • Now put the cooked mussels,1/4 cup water,salt to taste and cook for 5-10 mins or till it becomes dry
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice,roti ,dosa or idli!!!
