Bangda Phanna Upkari


This is a typical konkani dish!!Bangda or Mackerel is called RAJU in konkani !!this is a very spicy fish masala , goes well with hot rice !!!

INGREDIENTS:

4 bangda fish (mackerel)
3 onions
8 tsp oil
2 green chillies
salt to taste

for masala:
1/2 tsp corriander seeds
2 tblsp fresh grated coconut
12 red chillies
2 tsp tamarind pulp

PROCEDURE:


  • Wash and clean the fish and cut into pieces
  • Roast corriander seeds.red chillies, coconut in 1/2 tsp oil and grind to fine paste with tamarind
  • In a pan fry chopped onions in oil till light brown 
  • Add masala ,slit green chilli and fry for 5 minutes
  • Put 1/2 cup water, mackerel pieces ,salt to taste n cook till the fish is cooked
