Kaayi Obbattu with Tuppa


Coconut is called KAAYI in kannada , NAARLU in konkani..Amchi ubbati is called OBBATTU in kannada.this is very popular in Bengaluru.Normal ubbati or holige or pooran poli is stuffed with dal and jaggery mixture. whereas this is stuffed with coconut and jaggery mixture..

INGREDIENTS:

For kaNaka:(outer wrap )
3/4 cup maida
1/4 cup chiroti rava
1 tblsp oil
Knead the soft dough with this using little water and keep for 1-2 hours

For the filling:(hooraNa)

1 cup coconut
1 cup jaggery
1 tsp cardamom powder
Grind fresh coconut  without water  and take in kadai. Add jaggery and stir till  it dissolves .add cardamom powder and cool it

PROCEDURE:


  • Take hooraNa and make lemon size balls
  • Take  little dough (1/3 of hooraNa) ,flatten it little and keep the filling and cover ot
  • Grease one plastic sheet ,keep the dough with filling ,cover with another sheet and press it to a roti
  • Transfer it on tava and roast it 
  • Cool it and store in airtight container
  • Serve hot with ghee
