parval ke chaval

PARVAL is also called Pointed gourd in ENGLISH  and Goint  in  KONKANI.  Today I just tried this parval rice and it was  very tasty .So thought of sharing the recipe with you.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup basmati rice
5 tsp oil or ghee
2 sliced onions
1 slit green chilli
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
5 parvals
1/4 cup curd
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp biryani masala
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves

PROCEDURE:

  • In cooker take oil or ghee and saute onion slices till light brown
  • Add green chilli and ginger garlic paste and fry
  • Peel the parval and cut into 4 pieces(lengthwise)
  • Add the parval pieces and fry for 3 minutes
  • Take curd in a bowl and mix turmeric powder,chilli powder and biryani masala in it
  • Add the curd mixture to the parval  and fry
  • Put the washed basmati rice, salt to taste  and fry for 5 minutes
  • Put 11/2 cups water and close the lid of cooker and cook it for 2 whistles 
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with raita
