Paneer ke Chaval


1 cup basmati rice
1/2 cup paneer pieces
5 tsp oil
1 sliced onion
1 tsp red chilli flakes
1/2 tsp haldi (turmeric powder)
1 tsp kasuri methi
2 tsp crushed coriander seeds
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp lime juice
Spring onion for garnishing
Salt to taste


  • Wash and soak rice in  water for 1/2 an hour
  • In a pan take 1 tsp oil and saute paneer with little salt and keep aside
  • In cooker heat remaining oil and saute onion slices for 5 minutes
  • Add chilli flakes,turmeric powder,kasuri methi,garam masala,coriander seeds,and fry for a minute
  • Add soaked rice and fry for 5 minutes
  • Add lime juice and 1.5 cups of water  and close the lid
  • Cook for 2 whistles
  • After the steam is released open the cooker, mix the paneer pieces and garnish with spring onions
  • Serve hot with any raita of your choice
