Sanna Idli



Sanna idli is steamed spicy  rice cakes , a traditional Konkani dish !! Here I used coclocasia leaves. You can use any other leafy veggies or cabbage ,onion too...Usually we use rice and toor dal mixture for the batter,but today I used raw rice and boiled rice mixture..It was very tasty..Enjoy these idlis topped with coconut oil!!!

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup dosa rice/ raw rice
1/2 cup boiled rice/ ukda chaval
1 cup fresh grated coconut
little tamarind
5-6 red chillies roasted in little oil
Salt to taste
7-8 finely chopped colocasia leaves
Coconut oil for serving

PROCEDURE:

  • Soak both rice in water for 2 hrs,wash and grind with red chillies,tamarind,and salt into a semi coarse thick batter
  • Use very little water while grinding
  • Add chopped leaves and steam in cooker for 20 mins
  • Serve hot with coconut oil !!!
