Halasina Hannina Payasa / Gharayi
INGREDIENTS:
This is a typical konkani delicacy prepared with ripe jackfruit,jaggery and coconut milk.Ponosu is a Konkani word for jackfruit. This typical Jackfruit payasam is called PONSA GHARAYI in konkani.
INGREDIENTS:
5 ripe jackfruit segments cut into pieces
2 cups coconut milk
2 tsp rice flour
Jaggery to taste1 tsp cardamom powder
Nuts and raisins roasted in ghee for garnishing
PROCEDURE:
- In a pan take 1/4 cup water and jackfruit pieces and cook till they become soft
- Once they are cooked add jaggery , cook till jaggery melts
- Add coconut milk and make it boil for 5-10 minutes
- Mix rice flour in little water and make a smooth paste and add to the payasa .
- Keep stirring continuously till it boils and becomes thick
- Garnish with nuts and cardamom powder
- Serve hot
