Keerla Ambado


Bamboo shoots also known as KEERLU in konkani and KANILE in kannada.these are edible shoots of bamboo plant and are usually harvested before they are 2 weeks old. Peel and thinly slice the shoots. before using soak them in ware for 2 days and keep changing the ware everyday.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup  finely chopped tender bamboo shoots
1 cup soaked dosa rice
1/2 cup soaked toor dal
1/4 cup grated coconut
4 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
oil to deep fry

PROCEDURE:

  • Soak dal and rice for 5 hours 
  • Grind with grated coconut to a little coase batter (add little water)
  • Add salt, chilli powder and chopped bamboo shoots and make vadas and deep fry
