Masala Bhaat


2 cups basmati rice soaked in waer for 1/2 an hour
 1 sliced onion (optional)
1/2 cup green peas
1 potato cut into cubes
5 tsp oil
2 cloves (lavang)
1/2 inch cinnamon (dalchini)
1 bay leaf
Salt to taste

For masala :Dry roast separately 4 red chillies,1 tsp corriander seeds,1 tsp cumin seeds, 2 tblsp dry coconut and grind to  a fine paste with little water


  • In cooker take oil ,saute onions, lavang,dalchini, bay leaf
  • Add masala and fry for 3-5 minutes
  • Add rice and fry for 5 minutes
  • Put veggies, salt and 3 1/2 cups water and cover the lid
  • Cook for 2 whistles 
  • Garnish with corriander leaves and serve hot
Note:you can also add veggies like brinjal, tendli(gerkins)
