Lauki ki Dal


1 cup toor dal
 1/2 cup chana dal(bengal gram)
1 chopped onion
1 cup chopped lauki (bottlegourd)
3 tsp ghee or oil
2 tsp cumon seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida powder
1 chopped tomato
2 tsp chilli powder
Coriander leaves for garnishing


  • In cooker put dals and 2 cups water  and boil it for 2 whistles
  • In a kadai take oil add cumin seeds, turmeric ,asafoetida powder ,and copped onion
  • Saute onion for 5 minutes and put chopped tomato and fry till it becomes smooth paste
  • Add all spices and fry 
  • Add this to boiled dal with salt 
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rotis
