Methi Rice n Dal

1 cup basmati rice
1 cup chopped methi leaves(fenugreek)
1/2 cup green peas
5 tsp oil
1 sliced onion
2 tsp grated coconut
2 green chillies 4 garlic cloves
2 lavang(clove)
1/2 inch cinnamon(dalchini)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 tsp lime juice
corriander leaves


  • Grind coconut,green chilli ,lavang,dalchini and garlic to a fine paste
  • In cooker take oil and saute onion slices for 5 minutes
  • Add ground paste and fry well 
  • Put chopped leaves ,turmeric powder and stir for 3 minutes
  • Add green peas and rice and fry for 5 minutes
  • Add salt ,1 tsp lime juice and 1.5 cups water and take 2 whistles 
  • Garnish with corriander leaves
  • Serve with raita or dal
