Hariyali Pulav


INGREDIENTS:
2 cups basmati rice
6 tsp ghee or oil
1/2 cup green peas
1 tsp garam masala
2 sliced onions
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1tsp lime juice
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves for garnishing

FOR GREEN MASALA:
1 cup chopped coriander leaves
3 green chillies
1/2 inch ginger
4 garlic cloves
grind these into a fine paste

PROCEDURE:

  • In a cooker put oil and saute sliced onions till translucent
  • Add ground paste and fry well
  • Add turmeric powder and garam masala 
  • Put washed rice and fry for 5 minutes
  • Add lime juice,salt to taste,green peas and 3 1/2 cups water 
  • Close the lid and take 2 whistles
  • After the steam is released open the cooker and garnish rice with chopped coriander leaves
  • Serve hot with raita
