Kundapur chana masala



INGREDIENTS:
1 cup soaked and boiled kabuli chana
6 tsp oil
2 medium sized onions finely chopped
2 small tomatoe finely chopped
1 sprig of curry leaf
1/2 tsp turmeric pdr
Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

FOR THE MASALA:
In 1 tsp oil fry 3 tsp coriander seeds,1tsp cumin seeds,2 lavang,1/2 inch cinnamon,1/2 onion roughly chopped and 4-5 byadgi red chillies
Grind the above ingredients with 5 garlic cloves,1/2 inch ginger and 1/4 cup coriander leaves into a fine paste
Add  3 tblsp fresh grated coconut in the same masala paste and run the mixer only for 1 minute

PROCEDURE:

  • In a pan heat oil and fry onions chopped till transparent
  • Add curry leaves,turmeric pdr and chopped tomatoes and fry till tomatoes becomes pulpy
  • Put the masala paste and fry for a minute
  • Put the boiled chana ,salt to aste and boil it for 5- 10 mins
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
  • You can substitute chana with chicken,prawns or mushrooms!!
  • Enjoy with hot rice or phulkas!!!
