Bhendekai Majjige Huli


INGREDIENTS:
25 gms bhindi/ okra/ lady's fingers
2 tsp oil
1/2 cup curds
Salt to taste

FOR THE MASALA :
3/4cup grated fresh coconut
2 small green chillies
1 tsp jeera/ cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric / haldi pdr
Grind these ingredients into a fine paste and keep aside

FOR THE TEMPERING:
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
1 broken red chilli
1 sprig of curry leaves
1/2 tsp hing/ asafoetida pdr

PROCEDURE:
  • Wash,wipe and cut the ends of bhidis and cut into 1 inch long pieces
  • In a pan heat oil and roast bhindis with little salt till it is cooked
  • Transfer it in a vessel,add the masala ,1/2 cup water,salt to taste and make it boil
  • Add the curds and give just one boil and add the tempering with the mentioned ingredients
  • Serve hot with the rice !!!
  • You can substitute bhindi with ash gourd,snake gourd or seeme badane ...
  • If you want to make thick use around 2 tsp soaked chana dal while making masala paste and reduce the quantity of coconut!!!
