Bhindi Sagle



Bhindi sagle or bhindi masala is a typical Konkani dish . This is a very tasty coconut based gravy ,tastes very delicious with white rice and dal !!

INGREDIENTS:
250 gms bhindi/ lady's fingers
2 tsp oil
Salt to taste

FOR THE MASALA:
1 grated coconut
little tamarind
1 tsp coriander seeds,4 methi seeds and 4 dry red chillies roasted in 1 tsp oil
Grind the above into a paste  and keep aside

FOR THE TEMPERING:
2 tsp oil 
1 tsp mustard
1 sprig of curry leaves
  
PROCEDURE:

  • Wash and wipe bhindis and cut both the ends,cut into 1 inch pieces
  • In a pan heat 2 tsp oil and fry the bhindis with little salt till they are cooked
  • Add the masala and water as required to adjust the consistency (this is a semi thick gravy)
  • Add salt to taste and make it boil for 5-10 mins
  • Temper with the above ingredients and serve hot with rice and dal !!
