Baby Potato Biryani


INGREDIENTS:
1 cup basmati rice soaked in water for 30 mins
10 baby potatoes parboiled
2 onions sliced
6 tsp ghee or oil
1 cardamom
2 cloves/lavang
1 piece of cinnamon/ dalchini
1 bay leaf / tej patta
1/2 tsp turmeric / haldi pdr
2 tsp biryani masala pdr
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt to taste

FOR THE MASALA PASTE:
1/2cup coriander leaves
8-10 mint leaves
2  green chillies
1/2 onion roughly chopped
5 garlic cloves
1/2 inch ginger
PROCEDURE:

  • Peel the boiled potatoes, add little salt and 1 tsp red chilli pdr ,mix well and roast the potatoes till its outer cover becomes light brown and keep aside
  • In cooker ,add oil put cardamom,lavang,cinnamon,bayleaf ,fry for a second and add sliced onions
  • Fry onion slices till translucent,followed by masala paste 
  • Fry the masala till the raw smell goes,add turmeric pdr,biryani masala pdr and fry for a minute
  • Drain water from the soaked rice and add it to the fried onion slices , fry for 5 mins
  • Add salt to taste,1.5 cups water ,lemon juice and mix well
  • Close the lid of cooker and cook for 2 whistles
  • Once the steam is released open the lid and  gently mix the roasted potatoes 
  • Serve hot with raita!!!
