Matar Mushroom Biryani with Boondi Raita


INGREDIENTS FOR BIRYANI:
1 cup basmati rice
1/4 cup fresh green peas
5 mushrooms 
1 big onion sliced
1/2 tsp turmeric pdr
1 tsp biryani masala pdr
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
2 tsp ghee

To make a paste you need:
3 tblsp coriander leaves
5 mint leaves
2 green chillies
1/2 inch ginger
5 garlic cloves
Grind the above ingredients

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash and soak rice in water for 30 mins,wash mushrooms and cut into 4 pieces
  • Heat oil in cooker ,saute sliced onions until it becomes transparent
  • Add masala and fry till raw smell goes
  • Add turmeric pdr,biryani masala and fry for 2 mins
  • Drain water from the rice and add rice into the cooker,fry for 5 mins
  • Add chopped mushrooms,green peas,salt to taste  and mix well
  • Add lemon juice,1.5 cups water and close the lid
  • Cook for 2 whistles,once the steam is released open the lid add ghee and mix gently with a fork
  • Serve hot with raita.
BOONDI RAITA INGREDIENTS:
1 cup fresh curds/ yoghurt
Salt to taste
1 tsp sugar
1/2 cup boondi
1 tsp roasted cumin /bhuna jeera pdr
1/2 tsp red chilli pdr

PROCEDURE:
  • Take curds in a bowl,add salt,sugar and beat well
  • Add jeera and chilli pdr ,mix well
  • Add boondi just before serving  and enjoy with biryani
