Tingalavare Koddel


INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup tingalavare / white beans
1 drumstick ,cut into 2 inch pieces
1 cup chayote / seemebadane cut into chunks
Salt to taste

FOR THE MASALA :
1cup grated coconut
little tamarind
4-5 red chillies roasted in 1/2 tsp oil
Grind the above ingredients into a fine paste and keep aside

FOR TADKA:
5 Tsp oil
10 garlic cloves crushed

PROCEDURE:

  • Soak white beans in 1 cup water for 2-3 hrs,cook in cooker with 1 cup water for 2-3 whistles
  • Open the lid ,add chayote and again cook for 1 whistle
  • Cook drumsticks in a vessel with little water and salt(dont cook in cooker)
  • Transfer all the cooked beans,veggies in a vesse,add salt to taste,ground masala,water to adjust the consistency(semi thick gravy)
  • Make it boil for 10 mins,add the tadka,tempering to the curry and turn off the flame
  • Your koddel is ready to serve with rice.
