Tomato Pulao


INGREDIENTS:
1 cup basmati rice
6 tsp oil or ghee
2 slit green chillies
1 big onion sliced
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp red chilli pdr
1/2 tsp turmeric pdr
1 tsp pav bhaji masala pdr
2 tsp tomato ketchup
2 finely chopped tomatoes
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash basmati rice and soak in water for 30 mins
  • In cooker put oil / ghee, saute green chillies and sliced onions , until they turn light brown in colour
  • Add chopped tomatoes and fry till they turn mushy
  • Add ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 mins,followed by all the spice powders
  • Saute for a second ,drain water from the rice and add the rice to the tomato onion mixture
  • Add salt,ketchup  and fry for 5 mins
  • add 1.5 cups water and close the lid of the cooker and cook for 2 whistles
  • Turn off the flame ,open the lid once the steam is released
  • Gently mix the rice,garnish with chopped coriander leaves
  • Serve hot with any raita.
