Ananas Mensukayi
Ananas also called pineapple in english and avnas in konkani .This is a tangy, sweet and spicy curry or gojju called mensukayi. goes well with hot rice.This is a typical south karnataka dish.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup boiled pineapple pieces
Salt and jaggery to taste
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
curry leaves
For masala:
1/2 tsp corriander seeds
2 tsp sesame seeds(til)
2 tsp urad dal
1/4 tsp asafoetida powder
3 tsp grated coconut
5 red chillies
1 tsp oil
PROCEDURE:
- Roast the masala ingredients in oil till light rown in colour
- Cool it and grind to a smooth paste
- Add this to boiled pineapple pieces
- Add salt and jaggery to taste ,little water and boil it (semi liquid consistency)
- Temper with mustard and curry leaves in 2 tsp oil
