Southe kaayi Hasi Saasive


INGREDIENTS:
1 cucumber / southe kaayi / kakdi
Salt to taste
1/2 cup curd

FOR THE MASALA  PASTE:
1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
1/2 green chilli
1/2 tsp mustard
Grind the above ingredients into a fine paste

FOR THE TEMPERING:
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp urad dal
1 sprig of curry leaves
1 broken red chilli

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash and peel the cucumber, cut the ends and chop the cucumber finely
  • Put the chopped cucumber in one bowl,add salt to taste,ground coconut paste,curds and mix well
  • Adjust the consistency adding little water  and check the salt
  • Temper it with the ingredients mentioned
  • Serve chilled with rice and rasam or dal
  • Tastes heavenly especially in hot summer
