Jeev kadgi Phodi


JEEV KADGI also called BREAD FRUIT in english and DEEVIGE HALASU  in kannada!!This veggie is  used very much in south Karavali and Malnad regions.We prepare curry/ sambar/sukke/bendi /bajo (bonda),and phodis(fritters).If it is tender then use it for curries.For phodis and bajos you have to choose the riped one.

INGREDIENTS:


20 slices of kadgi  (put in water immediately after cutting)
Oil to deep fry
Make paste of:
3 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp rice flour
1/4 tsp assfoetida powder (hing)
Salt to taste
2 tblsp rice flour for coating

PROCEDURE:


  • Apply little salt to kadgi  slices
  • Mix with the paste  and coat it well
  • Roll each slices in rice flour and deep fry
  • Serve hot with dal and rice
