Bikkanda Saung


Jackfruit seeds are called BIKKAND in konkani  and HALASINA BEEJA in kannada.Jackfruit seeds are used in many konkani dishes like upkari,ghashi or koddel.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup jackfruit seeds cut into pieces and boiled
2 chopped onions
2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp tamarind pulp
Salt to taste

PROCEDURE:


  • In a pan take oil and fry onions till light brown in colour
  • Add chilli powder and fry for 3 minutes
  • Add tamarind pulp
  • Put boiled jackfruit seeds ,salt to taste ,1/4 cup water and cook for 5 minutes 
  • Serve with hot rice and dal
