Moog Dal Halva


1 cup moong dal (green gram)
1/2 cup khova
3/4 cup ghee
1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
Generous pinch of saffron
1 tsp cardamom powder


  • Soak moong dal for 2-3 hours,wash ,drain and grind coarsely 
  • Make one string sugar syrup with 1 1/4 cups of water
  • Heat ghee and saute dal paste 
  • Stir continuously over a low flame till golden brown
  • Add sugar syrup andsaffron soaked in milk
  • Stir till it is blended well and becomes dropping consistency
  • Add khova and cook for 5 minutes
  • Garnish with cardamom powder and chopped almonds
  • Serve hot
