Palak Rice

2 cups basmati rice
 5 tsp oil or ghee
10 spinach leaves (palak)
2 sliced onions
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
Salt to taste
3 tsp corn flour
Oil for deep frying

Make a mixture of;
1 tsp pav bhaji or biryani masala,1/2 tsp turmeric powder,1.5 tsp chilli powder,3 tsp chopped coriander leaves,1/4 cup curd and keep


  • In cooker take oil and saute onion slices for 5 minutes
  • Add curd mixture and fry
  • Put rice and stir well
  • Add 3 1/2 cups of water ,salt to taste and cover the lid and cook (2 whistles)
  • Cup palak leaves into fine strips, add salt and sprinkle 3 tsp corn flour 
  • Deep fry the strips into crisp 
  • Garnish the rice with fried spinach strips before serving
Note:the crispy and crunchy palak leaves gives added taste to this rice .
