Methi Matar Malai

1 cup fresh green peas (matar)
1/4 cup finely chopped methi leaves(fenugreek leaves)
2 finely chopped medium sized onions
3 green chillies
4 garlic cloves
1/2 inch ginger
1 tomato( make paste)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder(haldi)
1 tsp Kasuri methi
2 tsp cream
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup curds
5 tsp oil
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp sugar
Chopped coriander leaves and cream for garnishing


  • Boil the green peas with salt
  • Make paste of green chillies,ginger and garlic
  • In a pan heat oil and saute chopped onions till translucent
  • Add green chilli paste and fry for 3 minutes
  • Add tomato paste,turmeric powder and fry for 5 mins
  • Add chopped methi leaves  and fry for 5 minutes
  • Put boiled matar,salt ,sugar,kasuri methi and mix
  • Add milk,curds ,cream and adjust the consistency of the gravy according to your choice
  • If you want more creamy add more cream 
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and fresh cream
  • Serve hot with roti,naan,phulkas
