Jhatpat Chunda
CHUNDA is a sweet and tangy raw mango pickle. This ia a very popular GUJARATI dish !! This goes well with roti, thepla or parathas!!This is a combination of sugar and raw mango.the traditional method of preparing chunda is a very long procedure.Sugar and grated mangoes are kept in direct heat of the sun for 10 days to dissolve sugar till the pickle reaches a clear syrup consistency. But ,I have used the instant method which is very easy to prepare!!
INGREDIENTS:
1cup grated raw mango
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp turmeric powder(haldi)
1 tblsp red chilli powder
1 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder (bhuna jeera powder)
PROCEDURE:
- In a vessel take sugar and water and make it boil
- When the sugar syrup comes to one thread consistency add haldi, salt and grated raw mango
- Let it boil till it becomes little thick
- When it comes to room temperature add chilli powder and jeera powder
- Mix well and store in a air tight jar

Nice post! I enjoy reading about traditional recipes and regional flavors. Gujarati Chhunda is one of the best sweet mango pickles and a must-try for anyone who loves Gujarati cuisine.
