Open Masala Appo


Appo is also called Paddu or Paniyaram!! This is a very good breakfast dish .This time I just tried it with some stuffed masala !!It tasted very yummy !!So sharing it with all of you !!

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup urad dal
2 cups dosa rice
1 tsp methi seeds
2 bread slices
salt to taste
oil for cooking

PROCEDURE:

  • Soak urad dal , dosa rice and methi seeds in water for 5- 6 hours
  • Grind  this with 2 slices of bread to a smooth batter
  • Ferment the batter for 7-8 hrs or overnight
  • Add salt to taste
  • Make aappo or guliappa  in it's pan adding little oil
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney of  Your choice

Note: You can also add chopped onion, green chillies to this batter.
This batter can be used for making utthappam or normal thin dosa also.

FOR THE STUFFING MASALA:
2 tsp oil
1/4 cup grated carrot
1/4 cup boiled green peas
2 chopped onions
2 crushed green chillies
2 tsp chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
PROCEDURE:
  • In a pan heat oil and saute onions,green chillies for 2 minutes
  • Add grated carrot,green peas ,salt and cook for 5 minutes
  • Add chopped coriander leaves
Put around 2 tsp of masala over the appo and cook it on both the sides.Serve with coconut chtney or sambar.You can also use other veggies if your choice and also add any other masala  according to your taste.
