Surnali 2

SURNALI is little similar to pancake!! This is a very popular Konkani dish usually prepared for breakfast!! You can have these hot surnalis with a blob of buuter or with ghee also!! This particular recipe belongs to my cousin sister Vijaya Shenoy from Banaluru !!This is one of the best surnali recipe I'd tried till now !!So sharing it with all of you !!

1 cup dosa rice
2 cups curds
1 tsp Methi seeds (fenugreek)
1/2 cup poha (beaten rice)
1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
1/2 tsp turmeric powder(haldi)
1 cup jaggery
A pinch of salt
Oil for cooking dosa


  • Wash rice and soak in curds ,methi seeds and haldi with enough water to soak
  • Soak it for 5-6 hours
  • Grind it with jaggery,poha and coconut to a fine paste
  • Use the soaked water to grind
  • Add salt and ferment it for 6-8 hours
  • Heat tava and put 1 laddle full batter ,put little oil and cook covered with a lid on a medium flame
  • Serve with butter or ghee
