Cucumber Poha Idli


INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups idli rava
1 cup thin poha/ beaten rice/ avalakki
1 cup sour curd/thick buttermilk
1 1/2 cups grated cucumber
1/2 tsp ENO or pinch cooking soda
Water as needed
Salt to taste

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash ans soak poha in curds for 5 mins
  • Since it is thin variety ,it will become mushy ,mash it nicely
  • Add rice rava ,salt,cucumber grated  ,mix well and keep covered for 10 mins
  • Poha and rava will absorb the water content
  • Add water if the batter is too thick ,and adjust the consistency like rava idli batter
  • Your idli batter is ready to use, no fermentation is required
  • Heat idli steamer,add ENO to the batter just before steaming
  • Grease the idli moulds and fill them with the batter
  • Steam for 12 to 15 mins
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar!!
