Avarekaalu palak bhaat


INGREDIENTS:
1 cup basmati rice soaked in water for 15 mins
1/4 cup avarekaalu/ hyacinth beans
1/2 cup washed n finely chopped palak/ spinach
1 big onion sliced
6 tsp oil
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves 

FOR THE MASALA PASTE:
Grind 1/4 cup coriander leaves.5 garlic cloves,1/2 inch ginger,2 cloves(lavang).a piece of cinnamon(dalchini),1/2 tsp turmeric pdr,1 /2 tsp red chilli pdr,2 green chillies,1 tsp garam masala
Make a fine paste with lil water


PROCEDURE:

  • In cooker put oil and saute sliced onions till becomes transparent
  • Add the masalaand fry well for 5 mins
  • Put the washed rice and fry for 5 mins
  • Add chopped palak,avarekaalu,salt ans toss well
  • Add 2 cups water,lemon juice and mix well,close the lid of cooker 
  • Switch off the gas after 2 whistles
  • Open the lid once the steam is released,garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve with raita!!
