Dhaba style dal


INGREDIENTS:
4 tblsp toor dal/split pigeon pea
2 tblsp moong dal
2 tblsp chana dal
3 tsp oil
1 chopped tomato
 1 chopped onion
1/2 inch crushed ginger
4 crushed garlic cloves
2 chopped green chillies
1 clove/lavang
1/2 inch cinnamon/dalchini
1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric pdr
1 tsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
chopped coriander leaves

FOR TADKA:
2 tsp ghee
1.5 tsp red chilli pdr
2 dry red chillies

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash and soak dals in 2 cups water for 30 mins and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles
  • In a pan heat oil ,add jeera,lavang,dalchini and fry for a minute
  • Now add the chopped onions and fry till transparent
  • Put the crushed ginger,garlic and chpped green chillies and fry
  • Add  the chopped tomatoes and fry till it becomes mushy
  • Now add the cooked dal,salt and make it boil
  • Add lime juice and mix
  • In a apn heat ghee and put red chilies,chilli pdr and switch off the gas ,pour the tadka over the cooked dal
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves 
  • Serve hot with roti,naan  or rice !!!
