Ulli Puli Chammandhi/onion gojju

20 shallots/ baby onions
8 dry red chillies
small lemon size tamarind
3  tsp coconut oil
Salt to taste


  • Roast the red chillies in  little oil till dark brown and crisp
  • Soak tamarind in water and extract the pulp
  • Crush the red chillies and put in a bowl,add salt,tamarind pulp
  • Add shallots and crush it using mortar or pestle
  • Addthe remaining coconut oil and mix well and your gojju is ready to serve with rice!!
