Panchmel Methi Dal




INGREDIENTS:
1/4 cup split pigeon pea  / toor dal
2 tblsp chana dal/ Split bengal gram
2 tblsp masoor dal
2 tblsp moong dal
2 tblsp urad dal/ Split back gram skinless
Salt to taste
1/4 cup methi leaves / fenugreek leaves finely chopped
Chopped coriander leaves
2 tsp fresh cream

FOR THE TEMPERING/ TADKA
5 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera
1/2 tsp turmeric / haldi pdr
1 tsp red chilli pdr
2 chopped green chillies
2 finely chopped tomatoes
1 chopped onion
5 finely chopped garlic

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash dals and soak in 2 cups water for 15 mins
  • Pressure cook dal for 3-4 whistles or till done
  • Heat oil in a pan .add jeera,chopped green chillies, garlic and fry
  • When garlic becomes brown ,add chopped onion and fry till it becomes transparent
  • Put the chopped tomatoes  and cook till it becomes mushy
  • Add chopped methi leaves and cook till it is done
  • Add turmeric pdr,chilli pdr and saute foe 2 mins
  • Now add the cooked dal mixture,salt to taste and water if needed
  • Make it boil for 5 mins,add cream and mix well 
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with phulkas !!
