Andhra Tomato Pappu


INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup boiled toor dal
2 finely chopped tomatoes
4 finely chopped garlic cloves
2 broken red chillies
1 tsp mustard
1/2 tsp red chilli pdr
curry leaves
1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera
1/2 tsp turmeric pdr/ haldi
1/2 tsp pepper pdr
4-5 tsp oil
Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt to taste

To be ground to fine paste:
3 tblsp fresh coconut,2 green chillies and 1/4 tsp turmeric pdr
Make a fine paste of above ingredients and keep aside.

PROCEDURE:

  • In a pan heat oil ,add mustard,curry leaves ,once it starts crackling,add chopped garlic and fry
  • Once garlic becomes brown,add jeera,red chilies,jeera,turmeric pdr and chopped tomatoes
  • Fry till the tomatoes are cooked well
  • Add red chilli pdr and pepper pdr and fry for 2 mins
  • Put the ground paste and fry a little
  • Add the boiled dal,salt to taste and water to adjust the consistency
  • Once the dal is boiled garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice !!
