Palak ke Pakode

10 palak/ spinach leaves
1/2 cup gram flour/ besan
2 tblsp rice flour or corn flour
3/4 tsp red chilli pdr
1/4 tsp turmeric pdr
1/4 pdr hing/asafoetida
Very small pinch cooking soda(optional)
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying


  • Wash the palak leaves,keeping  the small part of the stem and wipe them dry
  • Take besan, rice flour,hing,chili pdr,salt,cooking soda and turmeric pdr in a bowl,adding sufficient water make a thin batter (little thinner than other pakoda batter)
  • Heat oil in a kadai and dip each palak leaf in the batter and deep fryin hot oil till it becomes crisp and golden brown colour
  • Drain on to an absorbent paper and serve hot with hot coffee or chai ..enjoy !!!
