Rani fish Alle piyava ghashi/ curry
This is a typical Konkani style fish curry with the flavours of Alle(ginger),Piyavu(onion) and coconut oil. You can also substitute coconut oil with refined oil. (Tastes the best with coconut oil)
INGREDIENTS:
2 rani fish/madmal meen
2 medium sized onions finely chopped
2 green chillies chopped
1/2 inch ginger finely chopped
4 tsp coconut oil
Salt to taste
FOR THE MASALA PASTE:
3/4 cup grated fresh coconut
little tamarind
4-5 red chillies roasted in little oil
Grind these ingredients into a fine paste and keep aside
PROCEDURE:
- Cut and clean the fish ,apply little salt and keep for 5 mins
- Put the masala paste in a vessel,add water and adjust the consistency of the gravy
- Add salt,chopped onion,green chilli and ginger chopped
- Make it boil for 5 mins,add the cleaned fish and cook for 5 mins or till the fish is cooked
- Finish the curry adding coconut oil and your alle piyava ghashi is ready to serve
- Serve hot with hot rice!!!
- You can substitute the rani fish with silver fish,pomfret or seer fish !!!
