Bhindi Chakko


INGREDIENTS:
250 gms bhindi/ okra /lady's fingers
6 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
2 sprigs of curry leaves
Salt to taste

FOR THE MASALA :
3/4 cup fresh grated coconut
little tamarind
2 tsp urad dal ,1/4 tsp coriander seeds and 4-5 red chillies roasted in 1/2 tsp oil
Grind the above ingredients into a semi coarse masala with  little water and keep aside

PROCEDURE:

  • Wash ,wipe the bhindis and cut the ends
  • Slit the bhindisa into 4 pieces lengthwise and cut into 1 inch pieces
  • In a non stick pan take oil,add mustard,  once it crackles add curry leaves and cut bhindis
  • Add salt to taste and cook with a lid covered,adding little salt
  • Once the bhindis are cooked add the masala ,mix well and cook further for 5-10 mins,till it becomes dry
  • Serve hot with rice and dal !!!
