Knolkol / Navilkosu Huli


INGREDIENTS:


1/2 cup toor dal (boiled)
3 medium sized knolkol / navilkosu
1 onion
1 tomato
Salt to taste
coriander leaves

For the masala:
2 tsp coriander seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp chana dal (bengal gram )
asafoetida
turmeric
4 red chillies
1/2 tsp sesame seeds
Roast these in 1 tsp oil and grind with 4 tblsp  fresh grated coconut and littlle tamarind .

FOR THE TEMPERING:
3 oil
2 tsp mustard
curry leaves
Asafoetida / hing pdr

PROCEDURE:

  • Cut knolkol  and onion into big chunks, chop the tomato 
  • Cook these in cooker with 2 cups water for 3 whistles
  • Transfer it into a vessel, add  boiled dal ,salt  to taste and the masala as required and make it boil
  • Add coriander leaves chopped and temper with the ingredients mentioned above
  • Serve hot with rice and papad !!!
