Bikkanda Humman/ Jackfruit seeds curry


Jackfruit seeds are calle Bikkand in Konkani. This is a typical Konkani delicacy ,with the generous amount of hing/ asafoetida and coconut oil.  You can substitute bikkand with potato ,and sea food lovers can use prawns , tastes wonderful.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup chopped and boiled jackfruit seeds
Salt to taste
2 tblsp coconut oil
1 tsp hing / asafoetida pdr 

FOR THE MASALA PASTE:
1/2 cup coconut gratings
Gooseberry size tamarind
4 red chillies roasted in 1/2 tsp oil
Grind the above ingredients into a fine paste


PROCEDURE:

  • Put the boiled seeds in a vessel,add the masala hing,  water and adjust the consistency of the gravy
  • Make it boil for 5-10 mins,add the coconut oil and turn off the flame
  • Serve hot with rice and dal or dosa idli.
