Mushroom Sukkha


INGREDIENTS:
15  button mushrooms
1 onion finely  chopped
5 tsp oil
curry leaves
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste

FOR THE MASALA PASTE:
1 tsp oil
2 tsp coriander seeds/ daniya
1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera
5 fenugreek seeds/ methi
5 garlic cloves
1/2 onion roughly  chopped
5 red chillies
3/4 cup fresh grated coconut
Little tamarind
In a pan heat oil and roast daniya,jeera,methi seeds,when it is half done add red chillies,garlic and onion and fry foranother 5 mins.
Grind the roasted ingredents into a fine paste with tamarind,once it is done add grated coconut and just pulse it (run the mixi only for a second)

PROCEDURE:

  • Heat oil in a pan ,add curry leavesa and chopped onions,saute till it turns light pink
  • Add the masala and fry for 5 mins,add the cleaned and sliced mushrooms,salt and 1/4 cup water
  • Cook with a lid covered till the mushrooms are done 
  • Open the lid and cook till it becomes dry
  • Serve hot with roti,dosa or rice and dal.
