Taikile Ambado/ Tora leaves fritters

Taikilo or Cassia Tora leaves or Chegate soppu is often seen only in monsoon season.We prepare varieties of dishes with these leaves like taikile muddo / steamed dumplings, Taikile tambli, Taikile sanna polo / spicy dosa etc etc.. All these dishes goes well with rice and dalithoy.

1 cup dosa rice
3 tblsp roasted urad dal powder
5-6 tsp red chilli powder
Salt to aste
1.5 cups finely chopped taikilo


  • Soak rice in water for 2-3 hrs,wash well
  • Dry roast urad dal till light brown, make fine powder and keep aside
  • Clean the greens and wash well, chop finely and keep aside
  • Grind rice with salt into a thick  paste using very little water 
  • Keep the batter little coarse
  • Put the batter in a bowl, add chilli pdr as per your taste,chopped greens and roasted dal powder
  • Mix well ,heat oil. Make round balls with the batter,flatten it a little and deep fry on a medium flame
  • Fry till it becomes brown and crisp
  • Serve hot with rice and dal
