Udupi Saaru




INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Boiled toor dal
1 finely chopped tomato
1 slit green chilli
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Few curry leaves
1/4 cup tamarind juice
Salt to taste
Little jaggery
3 tsp Udupi saaru pudi
Chopped coriander leaves

FOR THE TEMPERING:
2 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp urad dal
1 red chilli cut into bits
Few curry leaves

PROCEDURE:

  • In a vessel put chopped tomato,green chilli, curry leaves,turmeric powder,and cook it for 10 mins, till the tomatoes are cooked well
  • Add boiled toor dal, tamarind juice,rasam powder, salt, jaggery  and 4 cups of water
  • Let it boil for 5 to 10 mins .Turn offf the flame
  • Add the tempering and garnish with chopped coriander leaves
  • Serve  hot with hot rice and papad.
