Lemon Rasam
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup toor dal
2 finely chopped tomatoes
1 tsp jeera / cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp rasam powder (optional)
1 lemon
Salt to taste
Chopped coriander leaves
FOR THE TEMPERING:
4 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard
2 sprigs of curry leaves
3-4 slit green chillies
5 crushed garlic cloves
PROCEDURE:
- Wash toor dal and cook in cooker with 2 cups water, turmeric powder,jeera and chopped tomatoes, Cook for 4-5 whistles
- Heat oil in a kadai, put mustrad , once it starts crackling add curry leaves,green chillies, crushed garlic, fry for a second
- Add cooked dal,water if needed , salt to taste and rasam powder, lemon juice. Let it boil for 5-10 mins
- Turn off the flame and garnish with chopped coriander leaves
- Serve hot with rice , drizzled with ghee.
